1.1.11

Happy new year everyone!

2010 was a crazy year for me in terms of moving forward, and I believe I did so in leaps and bounds compared to where I was in '09!

2011 brings high hopes for me and for Kuriio. I get to start off the year fresh with Kuriio, working on bringing new things to the store, the blog, and getting the website going too! As for personal/school endeavors I am proud to say that it is likely that I am starting off the year with an internship! I am also starting off the year with continued work with great people withing the Spokane Ad Fed to help put together the Addy Awards this year.

I can't be more excited for 2011!

Well the holidays have been hectic for me and my blogging schedule, but I will be back up and running on Monday! With new items in the shop and a lot more frequent blogging!

Till then!

12.19.10

Well! Just about 5 days until Christmas, that means I have been busy! Plus with a friend from Texas in town, Birthday Lunch for another friend, an Interview, and more Etsy sales than I have been used to, its going to be a great week!

I feel like while I have gotten a lot done, I do feel like I have been neglecting the blog and the shop a little. It has been hard to keep up with everything when my natural flow of school and everything has been disrupted so much! I have worked on a few things this week though!

I did some dyeing this week, and got some great results! Look for this one in the shop soon!

I also played with my findings and such again this week. Each time I play, I feel like its getting easier for me to put these together without so much though and over thinking of everything!

I did a ton of drum carding of fiber this weekend. Way more then what is pictured. I did these for a project I am doing for the Toy Soldier army. I wanted to make roving inspired by Dr.Steel, then spin it and knit it into something.

See, I told you I did a lot,  I actually did this pile times two, because I carded a ton for my mom also!

Its turning into such pretty yarn already! Look for it in the shop soon as well!

Finally! an Etsy update!

I got time this morning to add a few items to my shop! Some vintage fabrics, a vintage avon container, and even some Alice in Wonderland books!

I still have some I need to add, probably tomorrow or Sunday!

People in Washington - Please read!

Today I found out that the Governor is proposing the closing of the MAC, the Museum of Arts and Culture for those few that read my blog from other states. Instead of closing something in Seattle, or minimizing the funding for diffrent sports things, she wants to take our museum.

One of the things that bothers me about the whole thing is that its always the arts that get cut first! In high school when the budget got cut, the first thing to be cut back on was always the arts. Never something from the 8-10 different sports the schools had, always the arts programs. Its the same with this! quit helping all those sports teams, cut each of their funding by just a bit, then we shouldn't have to close the MAC.

The other thing that bothers me is how easily Spokane can get out voted by Seattle. The majority of the population of Washington is closer to Seattle so when I comes down to us, most of them don't care because its the other side of the state!

Spokane is loosing so much, we are slowly becoming a little hillbilly town again. We were doing so good for a while. Now the little boutiques are have a hard time staying afloat and local gallery spaces are getting fewer and fewer. The small venues are all closing or struggling to stay alive, not to mention the fact that anyone under 21 has a terrible time of finding a halfways decent concert or club style anything to go to around here.

And now the Governor wants to close our only real museum in Spokane. What are we going to have left?

Bars, sports and Walmart.

Sounds like great fun!

So please, contact the legislators send them an email, give them a phone call. Or even just post a link on Facebook.

Here is the MAC's facebook page:

Restoration Hardware.

I don't often venture into many places in the mall, It all cost so much, and makes me want things. BUT I did go into Restoration Hardware the other day looking for Christmas gifts, and WOW I love that place! Who knew there was a store out there so...Steampunk! Well, I don't know if I would pay for most of the stuff in there, but it all was so pretty! Not that it was unreasonable or anything, the prices were reasonable, but I would much rather figure out how to make my own things.

It is great inspiration though!
